We are very excited here at MaxFish as we prepare for our guests from the TV show Nice Fish hosted by Gary Cooper!! Gary and his crew arrive this afternoon, where we will check them in to two waterfront cabins with our friends at Reef Point Cottages. Our meet and greet dinner will be hosted by Kevin at the Floathouse, and our good buddy Darcy McBride will be showing us what Dish is all about as our personal chef for the remainder of the week! We’ll spend two full days out on the water fishing Ucluelet, targeting monster Spring and halibut. We’re looking forward to a week full of fun, laughs, great food, and solid fishing.

Tight lines and calm seas everyone!

Fantastic Four – Ucluelet Fishing Charter

Halibut fishing Ucluelet

The Fantastic Four did it again! The last time the four of us fished together (Tomi took the pic) was two years ago down in Cancun, where we landed 6 sailfish! We were excited for the chance to get together again for a Ucluelet fishing charter, letting Tomi take the reigns as guide this time. We weren’t sure if it was possible to top 6 sailfish in one day, but we were pretty pumped around midmorning, when we landed 5 Chinook and a beauty Coho in just over an hour. It wasn’t long after that; we landed the MONSTER halibut ON THE TROLL, weighing in at 60lbs!!! The fish hit so hard that we thought we caught bottom, pulling the salmon rod right under water. Brock was on the rod and brought the beauty up in less than 20 minutes. Another amazing trip for the Fantastic Four! I can’t wait to see what our next Ucluelet fishing charter has in store for us!

Ucluelet Fishing Charter Sunday June 22, 2014

20140622_144251

Our first Ucluelet fishing charter of the 2014 season was a success!! We decided to stick to the inside to target bottom fish, and landed these two beautiful halibut as well as a magnificent red snapper. It’s great to see the strong population of halibut Ucluelet has to offer our clients. Salmon fishing is starting to pick up, with estimated record returns for all our local river systems along the Pacific Northwest. We’re looking forward to another successful season, with out sites on hooking into “The Big One” and putting our clients on the Ucluelet Ladder Derby board. Top 3 fish for each month this summer will reward you with cash prizes as well as the opportunity to fish in the year end final derby in September 2014. Over $30,000 in prizes to be won, so give us a call and book your charter with your friends at Max Fish!

A Whale of a time!

Whale+taleWe had our friends Jesse Dorman, Heather Iverson, and Russell & Rachelle McMann out on Friday August 23, 2013 for a day of fishing and fun! The morning started off slow out at 12 mile, but the afternoon at Big Bank proved to be successful as usual. After catching 5 Chinook and 2 Coho Salmon, we dropped the gear down to the bottom to troll for halibut. We thought landing a 35 pound halibut was the perfect end to our day, but crossing paths with this beautiful Humpback whale on the way back to shore truly topped the day off.

The Faber Family

Family Fishing AdventureWe had a fantastic day with the Faber family, who came to fish the West coast all the way from Saskatchewan last Thursday. We fished the shallows of Big Bank, off the coast of Ucluelet, BC with great success! These folks went home with a total of 10 spring salmon and 6 halibut. We can’t wait to fish with them again next year!

Fish On!

fish onThis father-son charter came all the way from Amsterdam to fish with Max Fish! Here we have an action shot of each of the guys fighting a couple of the many Halibut we jogged up from the bottoms of Big Bank – one of our favorite fishing grounds on the west coast of Vancouver Island, British Columbia.

The fishing was on fire and we caught a total of 10 Spring Salmon and 5 Halibut! We can’t wait to fish with these guys again!!
